DEANDRE BRASILIER

LITHOGRAPHS      ALBUM / BOOK WITH LITHOGRAPHS

"My lithographs are litotes". By this figure of speech, André Brasilier implies that what can be perceived in his work strives to reveal the imperceptible, in keeping with the superb definition of Art that Odilon Redon amply developed. From the introduction to 'A.Brasilier lithographs 1958-1991',Callithos Editions, Paris, by Yann le Pichon.

André Brasilier was born in 1929 of parents who were artists and painters. A student at theNational School of Fine Arts in Paris (L'Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris), he quickly became very distinguished. Brasilier is among the rare French painters having acquired international fame. He received the Prize Florence Blumental in 1952, and the following year he received the Grand Prize of Rome at 23 years old. This was the time that he entered the Paris artistic life, holding many exhibitions in France as well as abroad in New York and Tokyo.
